FunctionEpidermal growth factor (EGF) plays a role in cell growth. It binds to its receptor (EGFR). EGF is regulated by iodine. EGF is part of a family of proteins with similar structure and activity.[1] Some details on EGF exon in EGF1 RelevanceEGFR-dependent cancers are deprived of stimulus by EGF by raising antibodies against EGF via vaccination. Structural highlightsAll EGF family proteins contain a conserved amino acid sequence which includes (PDB code 1jl9).[2] |
