Transcription factor tau

Function

Transcription factor tau or TFIIIC is required for transcription of tRNA and 5S RNA genes by RNA polymerase III^[1]. TFIIIC conserved complex is involved in the mechanism controlling general genome organization^[2]. TFIIIC is a multisubunit protein which initiates transcription complex assembly on tRNA by binding to the internal box B promoter element of RNA polymerase III^[3].
