Function

Polyhydroxybutyrate synthase (PHBS) or PHB synthase catalyze the polymerization of β-hydroxybutyryl coenzyme A to generate polyhydroxybutyrate[1].

Relevance

PHB is of interest as bio-derived and biodegradable plastics.
