Function

Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (CGAS) binds to DNA and catalyzes cGAMP synthesis. The cGAMP activates the type-I interferon pathway. [1]

Disease

Mice lacking CGAS are more vulnerable to lethal infection by DNA virus.
