Function

BRCA1 and BRCA2 or breast cancer type 1 susceptibility protein are tumor suppressors which help repair damaged DNA. For more details see RING Finger Domain of BRCA1 and BARD1 Heterodimer.

Disease

Mutations in BRAC1 and BRAC2 are associated with increased risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer and to a lesser extent with other cancers[1].
