Histones (H) are the major protein components of chromatin which help to pack the DNA in the nucleosomes. H2A, H2B, H3 and H4 are core histones while H1 and H5 are linker histones[1]. The nucleosome is the repeated unit of the chromatin consisting of 8 histone molecules wrapped by ca. 200 base pairs of DNA[2].
