I received my Ph.D. in the laboratory of Joseph Kraut at the University of California, San Diego. My graduate research involved X-ray crystallographic studies of dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) and DNA polymerase beta (polB). My research was particularly focused on elucidating the catalytic mechanisms of these enzymes and the role of conformational changes in catalysis. I conducted postdoctoral studies on the structure of T7 DNA Helicase/Primase in Tom Ellenberger's lab at Harvard Medical School. I am now employed by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the Laboratory of David Eisenberg at the University of California, Los Angeles. I continue to study structure of diverse proteins, including amyloidogenic proteins, enzymes from pathogenic bacteria, and self assembling macromolecular complexes.
