Ribosomal protein S2
FunctionRibosomal protein S2 (RPS2) is one of the 21 proteins which belong to the 30S small subunit of the bacterial ribosome or the 30 proteins which belong to the 40S small subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. Its N-terminal is rich in Arg-Gly repeats and has two RGGF copies which are believed to be associated with nuclear localization and binding to RNA. In archaea the protein is called S2P (RPS2P). RelevanceRPS2 is a tumor antigen recognized by antibodies. Thus its peptide can be suitable for use in immunotherapy for HLA-A26+ cancer patients[1]. RPS2 is over expressed in liver cancer[2].
