Carbonyl reductase (CBR) catalyzes the reaction converting R-CHOH-R and NADP to R-CO-R’ and NADPH. CBR has wide substrate specificity oxidoreductase activity. CBR has similar properties to aldose reductase and aldehyde reductase.

  • (R)-specific carbonyl reductase yields (R)-alcohols and its cofactor is Zn+2 ion.[1]
  • of mouse carbonyl reductase (1cyd).[2]
