Function

PROA_YEAST Catalyzes the NADPH dependent reduction of L-gamma-glutamyl 5-phosphate into L-glutamate 5-semialdehyde and phosphate. The product spontaneously undergoes cyclization to form 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate.
