Function

Factor XIII (FXIII) belongs to the blood coagulation system and crosslinks fibrin resulting in an insoluble clot. FXIII is activated by thrombin which cleaves it and releases an activation peptide[1].

Disease

FXIII deficiency causes internal bleeding.
