Function

[DMD_SULSO] Catalyzes the decarboxylation of mevalonate 5-diphosphate (MVAPP) to isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP). Functions in the mevalonate (MVA) pathway leading to IPP, a key precursor for the biosynthesis of isoprenoid compounds such as archaeal membrane lipids.[1]
