FunctionFunction

Leucine transporter (LeuT) is a membrane protein which is comprised of 12 transmembrane helices forming a channel. LeuT clears the synapse after signal transduction. LeuT utilizes the electrochemical potential gradient of Na+ ions across the membrane to catalyze the uptake of leucine. The LeuT is a homodimer[1].

RelevanceRelevance

LeuT is the target of many antidepressant and recreational drugs.
