Structural highlights

7xg9 is a 2 chain structure with sequence from Sphingobium sp. SYK-6. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA. For a guided tour on the structure components use FirstGlance.
Method:X-ray diffraction, Resolution 1.5Å
Ligands:,
Resources:FirstGlance, OCA, PDBe, RCSB, PDBsum, ProSAT

Function

METF_SPHSK Catalyzes the NADH-dependent reduction of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate. Is required to provide the methyl group necessary for methionine synthetase to convert homocysteine to methionine; the methyl group is given by 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (By similarity). Is required for Sphingobium SYK-6 to grow on vanillate or syringate as the sole source of carbon (Ref.3).[UniProtKB:P0AEZ1][REFERENCE:3]
