Transcription Termination Factor Rho

Revision as of 15:56, 19 November 2008 by Marc Boudvillain (talk | contribs)

Transcription termination factor Rho is a ring-shaped RNA-DNA helicase that induces release of transcription complexes at specific locci of bacterial genomes. Several structures of Rho in various liganted states haven been solved by X-ray cristallography by the Berger lab (Berkeley). Here is one representation showing the Rho hexamer in a closed state and with RNA fragments occupying both its primary and secondary binding sites.
