Uridine phosphorylase

Revision as of 13:28, 23 March 2020 by Michal Harel (talk | contribs)

Function

Uridine phosphorylase (UPP) catalyzes the conversion of uridine or deoxyuridine and phosphate to uracil and α-D-ribose 1-phosphate. UPP is part of RNA or DNA biosynthesis[1]. Unhydrouridine is an inhibitor of UPP.

Relevance

UPP inhibitors are tested for prevention of mucositis during chemotherapy[2].
