Structural highlights

4mn6 is a 2 chain structure with sequence from "micrococcus_aureus"_(rosenbach_1884)_zopf_1885 "micrococcus aureus" (rosenbach 1884) zopf 1885. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA. For a guided tour on the structure components use FirstGlance.
Ligands:
Gene:vicK, walK, yycG ("Micrococcus aureus" (Rosenbach 1884) Zopf 1885)
Activity:Histidine kinase, with EC number 2.7.13.3
Resources:FirstGlance, OCA, PDBe, RCSB, PDBsum, ProSAT

Function

[WALK_STAAU] Member of the two-component regulatory system WalK/WalR that regulates genes involved in autolysis, biofilm formation and cell wall metabolism. WalK functions as a sensor protein kinase which is autophosphorylated at a histidine residue and transfers its phosphate group to WalR (By similarity).
