Ramachandran PlotsRamachandran Plots
A Ramachandran plot has the values of psi (ψ) torsional angles on the y-axis and the values of phi (φ)torsional angles on the x-axis. More detailed description.
Torsional anglesTorsional angles
Extensive description of torsional angles. Each peptide bond has two torsional angles - psi and phi - which determine the geometry about the peptide bond. Tetraalanine is used to describe and illustrate these two angles.

Change the display to to show more clearly the backbone atoms. of the peptide bond involved in a ψ. with halos the four atoms making up the ψ. By clicking on the four marked atoms starting with the nitrogen of the peptide bond, going through the peptide bond and stopping at the next nitrogen the numerical value of ψ will be displayed.
and in identifying the atoms making up φ you start with a carbonyl C go through the same peptide bond and stop at the next carbonyl C.
