Structural highlights

1j48 is a 2 chain structure with sequence from Streptomyces globisporus. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA. For a guided tour on the structure components use FirstGlance.
Resources:FirstGlance, OCA, PDBe, RCSB, PDBsum

Function

[CAGA_STRGL] Binds non-covalently to a chromophore which is the cytotoxic and mutagenic component of the antibiotic. The chromophore binds to DNA as a weak intercalator and causes single- and double-strand breaks.

Evolutionary Conservation

Check, as determined by ConSurfDB. You may read the explanation of the method and the full data available from ConSurf.
