cI is a transcription inhibitor of bacteriophage Lambda. Also known as Lambda Repressor, cI is responsible for maintaining the lysogenic life cycle of phage Lambda. This is achieved by cI through repression of the ''cro'' gene and the ''cI'' gene, which code for proteins Cro and cI, respectively. Transition from the lysogenic to lytic life cycle will not occur unless the cellular concentration of Cro becomes larger than the cellular concentration of cI. | |||

About this StructureAbout this Structure
1LMB is a 4 chains structure of sequences from Enterobacteria phage lambda. This structure supersedes the now removed PDB entry 1lrd. Full crystallographic information is available from OCA.
