Factor XIII (FXIII) belongs to the blood coagulation system and crosslinks fibrin resulting in an insoluble clot. FXIII is activated by thrombin which cleaves it and releases an activation peptide. The images at the left and at the right correspond to one representative FXIII, i.e. the crystal structure of human Factor XIII (1ggt).
