COP9 (COnstitutive Photomorphogenesis 9) signalosome catalyzes the hydrolysis of NEDD8 protein from the cullin subunit of cullin-ring ubiquitin ligase. COP9 functions in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. COP9 contains 8 subunits and is homologous to the lid of the 26S proteasome[1].

Human COP9 signalosome subunits 1 (grey and wheat), 2 (green and blue), 3 (pink and rust), 4 (yellow and aqua), 5 (magenta and olive), 6 (cyan and orchid), 7A (gold and turquoise), 8 (red and neon green) (PDB code 4d10)
