The interactions between a few representative gold-based drugs and hen egg white lysozyme were studied by X-ray crystallography. High resolution crystal structures solved for three metallodrug-protein adducts provide valuable insight into the molecular mechanism of these promising metal compounds and the inherent protein metalation processes.

==Function==
The mode of action of anticancer gold-based drugs: a structural perspective.,Messori L, Scaletti F, Massai L, Cinellu MA, Gabbiani C, Vergara A, Merlino A Chem Commun (Camb). 2013 Sep 18. PMID:24045294<ref>PMID:24045294</ref>
[[http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/LYSC_CHICK LYSC_CHICK]] Lysozymes have primarily a bacteriolytic function; those in tissues and body fluids are associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhance the activity of immunoagents. Has bacteriolytic activity against M.luteus.<ref>PMID:22044478</ref>
