Magnetic bimetallic CoPt nanoparticles are synthesized in the solvent channels of hen egg white lysozyme crystals by the reduction of Co(2+) and Pt(2+) ions pre-organized on the interior surface of the solvent channels. By using different lysozyme crystal systems, the magnetic properties of CoPt nanoparticles can be controlled.

==Function==
Porous protein crystals as reaction vessels for controlling magnetic properties of nanoparticles.,Abe S, Tsujimoto M, Yoneda K, Ohba M, Hikage T, Takano M, Kitagawa S, Ueno T Small. 2012 May 7;8(9):1314-9. doi: 10.1002/smll.201101866. Epub 2012 Mar 2. PMID:22383363<ref>PMID:22383363</ref>
[[http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/LYSC_CHICK LYSC_CHICK]] Lysozymes have primarily a bacteriolytic function; those in tissues and body fluids are associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhance the activity of immunoagents. Has bacteriolytic activity against M.luteus.<ref>PMID:22044478</ref>
