Csi is an immunity protein produced by E. coli alongside Colicin S4 to protect itself from the Colicin's pore-forming activity. This is later released when the colicin binds to the outer membrane receptor of a target cell.
Csi is an immunity protein produced by E. coli alongside Colicin S4 to protect itself from the Colicin's Pore Formation activity, by inserting itself into the cell membrane and preventing the Colicin from doing the same. This prevents membrane depolarisation by the colicin, so the cell is not killed.
