Glycoproteins B, D (gB, gD) are components of the cell-entry complex of herpes viruses[1][2].

  • Glycoprotein B is required after herpes simplex virus attachment but before the expression of viral proteins[3].
  • Glycoprotein D determines which cells can be infected by herpes simplex virus by binding to the cell receptors which mediate the viral entry[4].
