C-di-GMP is a second messenger that mediates the regulation of cell-surface associated traits in bacteria.

<scene name='C-di-GMP/C-di-gmp/3'>C-di-GMP</scene>
is a cyclic dinucleotide with a 12-membered macro-cycle composed of the the phosphate and ribose moieties.  It tends to associate to form  <scene name='C-di-GMP/C-di-gmp/4'>dimers</scene> with intercalated, stacked bases.

Several protein structures involved in c-di-GMP signaling have been determined (see  [[C-di-GMP signaling]]).
