'''Receptor for activated protein kinase C 1''' (RACK1) is a scaffold protein which is able to interact simultaneously with several signaling molecules<ref>PMID:17908799</ref>.  It binds to protein kinases and to membrane-bound receptors<ref>PMID:9584165</ref>.  RACK1 is also part of the eukaryotic ribosome and it localizes to the small 40S subunit.  RACK1 recruits activated protein kinase to the ribosome and allows translation to be linked to cellular stimuli<ref>PMID:15577927</ref>.

== Relevance ==
RACK1 is up-regulated in angiogenesis and human carcinomas<ref>PMID:11099474</ref>.  The association of RACK1 with burial disease virus protein VP5 inhibits apoptosis and enhances viral replication<ref>PMID:25583988</ref>.
