Function

Sulfurtransferase (ST) are enzymes which transfer sulfur-containing groups[1].

  • Thiosulfate ST (TST) catalyzes the conversion of thiosulfate and cyanide to sulfite and thiocyanate[2].
  • Mercaptopyruvate ST (MST) transfers sulfate from mercaptopyruvate[3].

Relevance

Inhibitors of MST suppress H2S production and this make non sulfur bacteria like E. coli and Bacillus anthracis sensitive to antibiotics[4].
