Ribosomal protein L21

Function

Ribosomal protein L21 (RPL21) is one of the 34 proteins which belong to the of the prokaryotic ribosome or to the ca. 49 proteins in the large 60S subunit of the eukaryotic ribosome. RPL21 binds to 23S RRNA in the presence of RPL20[1].

Disease

Mutation in RPL21 underlie hereditary hypotrichosis simplex[2].
